Scary Sweet Treats of Hilo
My Top 3
I love trying new places to eat in East Hawai`i, and whenever I post a food photo I hear, "hey, where did you get that?" or "I went to that place you shared, thanks for telling me about it!"
We're lucky to have such creative chefs and bakers here who are always thinking of new recipes to keep us coming back for more. Halloween season is no exception, and I decided to share my top three spooky sweet spots this season!
If you have anything to add to this list, email me and let me know!
808 Sweet Shack
Located in Downtown Hilo above Cafe Pesto, they have the best fruit filled treats. My favorite of all time is their Lychee Volcano Cake, with real lychee inside! It's a seasonal item of course, but don't be afraid to ask them for something that's not on the menu. They can make anything!
Cupcakes BOOM!
In addition to their Halloween treats, they also have themed items for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Whenever you buy one, they make a donation to American Cancer Society! Side note: I'm showing my support for ACS this month with my "Real Men Wear Pink" campaign :)
Short n Sweet
This Hilo spot is world famous for their feature on Food Network Holiday Baking Championship Season 6! Every time I visit there's a new dessert design to match the season. But they do more than just desserts! They have sandwiches, paninis and other food items that are perfect on-the-go meals.
